Government

The City of Reidsville operates under a Council-Manager form of government. The City Council directs the policy for the City while the City Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of City Government.

 

The City Manager reports directly to the City Council and is responsible for all City Departments. Other Departments include the City Clerk's Office, Fire, Police and Public Works. Reidsville City offices are located throughout the City.

City Hall

Reidsville City Hall, located at 230 W. Morehead Street and it houses Administration, Community Development, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology and the Main Street Program. The Police Department is located next door at 220 W. Morehead Street.

The City Manager is aided by two Assistant Managers:

  • The Assistant City Manager of Administration/Finance Director oversees Finance, Human Resources and Information Technology.

  • The Assistant City Manager of Community Services oversees Planning & Community Development, Parks & Recreation (Lake Hunt, Lake Reidsville, Senior Center, Teen Center) and Economic Development (Penn House, Market Square, Main Street Program, the Reidsville Downtown Corporation and Marketing).

 

The Marketing Department operates out of The Penn House located at 324 Maple Street. The Main Street Coordinator handles rental of downtown's Market Square.

Sky's the Limit

Reidsville's Sky's the Limit will be an all inclusive park located behind City Hall. this park is a huge community effort.  Rotary of Reidsville gave 100,000 to the project  as well as Kiwanis donated a $50,000 swing and the Reidsville Area Foundation donated an additional 100,000 to the project.  The is slated to open in July.  This project all began with a local resident, Elizabeth Hester wanted to donate an airplane from her late Husband Bill.

The City of Reidsville Administrative Offices are located in City Hall and include the office of the City Manager, City Clerk and Deputy City Clerk. Specific services provided are aiding citizens in getting streetlights repaired and assisting those wishing to close a street temporarily for a parade or street event. The City's Code of Ordinances is also maintained by the City Clerk's Office and questions about City Ordinances can be answered through this office.

City Manager

Appointed by the Reidsville City Council, City Manager Summer Woodard is the chief administrative officer of the City, implementing all policies, programs and ordinances as adopted by the Council. The City Manager is responsible for the administration of all personnel matters, including hiring and firing of department heads and employees, and directs and supervises the administration of all departments, offices and agencies of the city. The City Manager evaluates any concerns within the community and attempts to find solutions to those problems.

City Clerk/Public Information Officer

City Clerk Angela G. Stadler, CMC/NCCMC, is responsible for keeping accurate minutes of all City Council meetings as well as recording all ordinances, resolutions, motions and votes made by the Council. The Clerk also advertises all public meetings and hearings and compiles and distributes the Council agendas, which are available one week prior to the Council’s regular meeting. The Clerk also serves as an information liaison for the public and the media. Among her duties is serving as the Webmaster for the City of Reidsville website, reidsvillenc.gov and being the City's Facebook coordinator. She is also the City's ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Coordinator. Stadler is assisted by Deputy City Clerk Latasha R. Wade, who also serves as staff liaison to the Human Relations Commission.

City Attorney

City Attorney William F. McLeod Jr. is an advisor on questions of law and procedure for the City Council and City Government. The Attorney attends all City Council meetings as required and represents the City and its officials in all legal matters. Among the City Attorney’s duties are the drafting of ordinances, resolutions, legal opinions and other legal documents.
