June 11, 2025 – Several key management positions within the City will be undergoing changes this month in both the Public Works Department and the Planning & Community Development Department.
Retired Reidsville Fire Chief David Bracken will be returning to the City to serve as Interim Public Works Director.
Josh Beck, Reidsville’s Public Works Director for the past three years, will be leaving June 13 to pursue other career opportunities. Bracken has already started his new role, which will allow him and Beck to work together to review various ongoing projects in Public Works.
Public Works also has other openings for supervisory positions as well. Retired Streets Superintendent Lindsey Tuttle has agreed to fill in as Assistant Public Works Director on an interim basis to assist Bracken. Tuttle will focus on operations and overseeing Phase II of improvements at Lake Reidsville. Terry Houk, a retiree from the City of High Point who came to Reidsville in 2024, will continue to serve as Interim Projects Manager.
“As a licensed engineer, Josh Beck has helped oversee numerous projects, including construction of the City’s All-Inclusive Park and its Splash Pad. His expertise will be sorely missed, but we wish him well in his future plans,” said Reidsville City Manager Summer Moore. “We are excited to have David Bracken and Lindsey Tuttle back to help us during this transitional period.”
Chief Bracken is no stranger to serving the City of Reidsville in an interim position. In addition to being the City’s Fire Chief for 25 years, Bracken also was Interim City Manager in 2015 and had been an Interim Public Works Director in the past.
“David’s leadership style is perfectly suited to handle any challenging role,” said Manager Moore. “His knowledge of the City of Reidsville and City government is a plus, as is his calm and steady presence, which will help lead the Public Works Department as we seek to hire a full-time director.”
Tuttle, who served as Streets Superintendent approximately 19 years until his retirement in 2024, also brings a lot of experience and knowledge to the City during this time.
“Lindsey is the type of person who gets things done,” Manager Moore said. “I am confident he can step back into the Public Works Department and provide David with the assistance needed to keep the department operating effectively and efficiently.”
In the Planning & Community Development Department, Director Jason Hardin is also leaving the City after three years to take on a new role in nearby Guilford County.
“Jason proved to be a good fit for us when we needed someone to fill this vital role in Planning & Community Development,” said Reidsville City Manager Summer Moore. “We appreciate his time here in Reidsville and wish him only the best in his future career opportunities as well.”
Until this position is filled, Assistant City Manager of Community Services Haywood Cloud Jr. will serve as Interim while applications are reviewed and interviews are conducted. Community Services includes the Planning & Community Development Department.
