Charles “Chuck” Williams returned to the City of Reidsville as its new Building Code Administrator on Monday, September 15, 2025.

Williams, who has been working with Rockingham County for the past two years as Deputy Chief Building Inspector, previously served as a Codes Inspector I in Reidsville from 2021-2023. Prior to that, he worked in the private sector.

As Building Code Administrator, Williams will supervise the City’s building inspectors and ensure compliance with North Carolina building codes as well as local City ordinances. Among his duties will be inspections and performing plan reviews.

“It’s a privilege to serve the City of Reidsville as Building Code Administrator,” Williams said. “As someone who cares deeply about the safety and future of our community, I’m excited to contribute to the City’s growth in a meaningful way. I look forward to building strong relationships with residents, contractors, and City staff as we work together to make Reidsville an even better place to live.”

He will report to Josh Farmer, Assistant City Manager of Public Safety/Fire Chief. Inspections was moved under Farmer earlier this year.

“The Building Code Administrator is a vital position in the City of Reidsville,” said Farmer. “Mr. Williams brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in building code enforcement. He is well-equipped to lead the building inspections division by working with developers, contractors, and community members to support all facets of residential and commercial growth in our City.”

Williams currently holds a Standard Level 3 Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing inspector certification, and a Level 3 Probationary Building inspector certification. He is also a licensed electrical and plumbing contractor, a licensed home inspector and is in the process of obtaining an H1, H2, H3 mechanical contracting license. Williams is currently going through the process to become a code educator at Rockingham Community College so that he can help strengthen the inspection industry and give back to the local community. He said he hopes to empower future inspectors and promote a culture of safety, integrity and service.
