The City of Reidsville's Zoning Ordinance is designed to encourage the protection and development of the various physical elements of the city and its Extraterritorial Planning Jurisdiction (ETJ). The City has prepared a Land Use Development Plan of land use and population density to promote public health, safety, community accepted standards and general welfare.
This has been done to promote orderly growth, expansion and development of the City and surrounding areas, to lessen congestion in the roads and streets, to provide adequate light and air, to secure the safety of the public from fire, panic and other dangers, to prevent the overcrowding of land and to facilitate the adequate provision of transportation, water, sewerage, school, parks and other public requirements.

REBOOT REIDSVILLE - UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE
Reboot Reidsville is an important effort being undertaken by the City to prepare a new Unified Development Ordinance (or a “UDO”). A UDO is a regulatory document that integrates the City’s zoning, subdivision, and flood damage prevention regulations into a single volume. It is the City’s primary tool for guiding land use and development activities in ways that will:

Promote downtown redevelopment.

Broaden the range of housing options.

Help the City achieve its goals for future development.
In 2022, the City adopted its Land Development Plan. A comprehensive assessment of current socioeconomic and development conditions in Reidsville, 6 goals for the City’s future development, a map to guide decisions about the locations of development, and an implementation schedule describing the actions necessary to reach the goals. The regulations and procedures in the UDO are one of the primary ways the City will achieve the goals and objectives identified in the Land Use Plan.
