Administration Services

Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Retail Permit

A retail business can obtain an ABC Retail Permit by applying to the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission at 400 East Tryon Road, Raleigh, North Carolina  27601.  The application instructions, forms, and fee information may be found at www.abc.nc.gov or by calling (919) 779-0700.

If you wish to obtain an ABC Retail Permit and operate a business in Reidsville, you may contact the Reidsville Police Department and speak to the  Chief of Police or the Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police by calling (336) 347-2302 for more details.

Animal Control

The primary function of the Reidsville Police Department Animal Control is to protect the safety of our citizens and ensure the well-being and humane treatment of the domesticated animal population within the City. The Animal Control Officer for the Reidsville Police Department can be reached by calling the Communications Center at (336) 634-3300. The Animal Control Services of the Reidsville Police Department include enforcement of State laws and City ordinances pertaining to animal control, animal cruelty, and abuse within the City limits of Reidsville.

The primary goals of the Animal Control Program are to:

  • Enforce the animal control laws by apprehending stray domesticated animals running at large.

  • Provide informational services to the public concerning animal control and proper treatment of animals.

  • Reduce the threat of rabies in the city by sponsoring rabies clinics.

  • Answer and resolve all citizen calls related to suspected animal cruelty violations.

Business Service Requests

The Reidsville Police Department provides services to the businesses in Reidsville such as  Security Escorts, Funeral Escorts, Special Attention Checks, Trespass Agreements, Peddling/Soliciting Permits and Private Security (See Extra Duty Police Services below). 

  • The Police Department provides security escort services for businesses. To request a security escort within the City of Reidsville, contact the Communications Center at (336) 634-3300.

  • The Police Department provides funeral escort services at no cost for any funeral home within the City or a funeral procession passing through the City. To request a funeral escort, contact the Communications Center at (336) 634-3300.

  • The Police Department provides Special Attention services for businesses within the City that have concerns about criminal activity in or around their business. To request special attention at a specific location, contact the on duty supervisor with the Reidsville Police Department at (336) 349-1010. The area will be checked periodically as service demands permit, and it will be documented in the Communications Database. The Police Department provides Trespass Agreements to businesses with complaints about individuals trespassing on their property. The owner or manager of a business may sign a Trespass Agreement, which authorizes officers with the Reidsville Police Department to act as their agent for the purpose of enforcing the trespass laws.   • Peddler/Solicitor permits. The Police Department will check on any door-to-door sales activity within the Reidsville City Limits. Anyone wishing to peddle or solicit within the City should contact the City of Reidsville Finance Department at (336) 349-1030 to determine if a permit is required. Permits can be obtained through the Finance Department located on the first floor of City Hall, 230 West Morehead Street. Peddlers/Solicitors will be required to complete a form and be fingerprinted by the Reidsville Police Department. See the Fingerprinting section for fingerprinting instructions.

Citizen Service Requests

The Reidsville Police Department provides services to the citizens of Reidsville such as Residential Keep Checks, Special Attention Checks and Trespass Agreements.

  • The Police Department provides residential keep checks for citizens who are away from home or who request that the police keep a periodic check on their property. These checks are performed at various hours of the day as work demands permit. To request a Residential Keep Check, please complete the attached Residential Keep Check Form and present it to the Support Services office on the first floor of the Reidsville Police Department located at 220 West Morehead Street. This service will be in effect for a maximum 14 consecutive days and then must be renewed to be continued. Download the Residential Keep Check Form.   • The Police Department provides Special Attention Programs for citizens who have concerns about criminal activity in specific areas. To request special attention in a specific area activated, contact the on duty supervisor with the Reidsville Police Department at (336) 349-1010. The area will be checked periodically and documented in the Communications Database.

  • The Police Department provides Trespass Agreements to citizens with complaints or concerns about individuals trespassing on their property. By signing a Trespass Agreement, one authorizes officers with the Reidsville Police Department to act as their agent for the purpose of enforcing the trespass laws. Extra Duty Police Services

Reidsville Police Officers are available to provide extra duty police services as approved by the Chief of Police for public/private events, businesses, school and athletic events. The current fee for this service is $50.00 per hour per officer (Nonprofit fee) and up to $75 per hour per officer. All hours worked by police officers are billed to the requesting individual, business or school by the City Finance Department. 

Contact the Administrative Lieutenant at (336) 347-2335 for any event in which police officers are needed. A contract may be required based on the scope of the request.

Fingerprinting

The Reidsville Police Department provides fingerprinting services for eligible individuals. To be eligible for fingerprinting an individual must possess a valid Driver's License or appropriate Photograph Identification Card. 

The Reidsville Police Department is now offering online fingerprint scheduling as a more convenient way for citizens to schedule being fingerprinted. This service is provided to residents of the City of Reidsville and employees of businesses inside the city limits, on Tuesdays between 9:00 AM and 11:30 PM and on Thursdays between 1:30 PM and 4:30 PM. The cost for Reidsville residents is $5.00 and non-resident $10.00 to be paid prior to receiving services at the City of Reidsville Water Department.

In order to be fingerprinted at your allotted time, we ask that citizens arrive on time for their appointment. Due to safety concerns, the department is only allowing the individual obtaining their fingerprints to be in the fingerprinting area at that time. 

To schedule to have your fingerprints completed, please complete the FINGERPRINT FORM and choose the time most suitable for you.  You will receive an email confirmation once your request is processed.

Payment of Fines and Fees

Fines for parking tickets, animal control violations and/or fees for impounded vehicles may be paid at the City Finance Department located at the Reidsville City Hall at 230 W. Morehead Street. To see a schedule of fees, visit the Finance Department page here.

Precious Metals Dealer Permit

Precious Metals Permits are issued by the Police Department on forms provided by the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.  The Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police processes all permit applications according to North Carolina General Statute § 66-165, including the collection of application fees, bonds, releases, fingerprints, etc.  Each application shall be given under oath and shall be notarized.  A 30-day waiting period from the date of filing of the application is required prior to the initial issuance of the permit by the Chief of Police.  A separate permit shall be issued for each location, place, or premises within the Police Department's jurisdiction.  Permits are valid for one year and must be renewed annually.

Taxi Permits

Individuals interested in establishing a City-based taxi franchise must submit an application and the required application fee to the City Finance Department. Once the application fee has been paid, the Police Department is responsible for the taxi permit certification and inspection program.

Traffic Crash Reports and Incident Reports

Traffic Crash Reports are submitted directly to NCDOT and can be obtained by going to NC CRASH REPORTS. NCDMV fee for crash reports is $6.50. 

To receive a copy of a police incident report, call (336) 349-1010  or go to the Police Department at 220 W Morehead St. and provide someone in Support Services with your name or report number.  We typically do not give out any information over the phone.
