The City of Reidsville Administrative Offices are located in City Hall and include the office of the City Manager, City Clerk and Deputy City Clerk. Specific services provided are aiding citizens in getting streetlights repaired and assisting those wishing to close a street temporarily for a parade or street event. The City's Code of Ordinances is also maintained by the City Clerk's Office and questions about City Ordinances can be answered through this office.

City Council

The City of Reidsville operates under a Council-Manager form of government. While the City Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the City, the Reidsville City Council establishes the policies for the City of Reidsville and its residents. The City Council is composed of seven members serving four-year terms. The Mayor is an at-large seat and a voting member. In addition to two other at-large positions, there are also two District A seats and two District B seats.

The Department of Planning and Community Development is led by Jason Hardin, Director of Planning and Community Development.  The department is located at City Hall with the planning division on the first floor and building inspection/code enforcement on the second floor. The mission of the Planning and Community Development Department is to promote and assist development in Reidsville that is consistent with the goals and objectives of the City's Land Development Plan and the North Carolina State Building Code. The department works with citizens and developers to ensure that growth occurs in a manner that enhances the quality of life for the present and future citizens of Reidsville.

Economic Development

The City of Reidsville's Economic Development Department is overseen by Montana Brown, Director of Marketing & Economic Development. This department works with business and community leaders to establish and maintain a business-friendly climate in Reidsville to help facilitate industrial and commercial retention and recruitment in the City.

 

This department markets the community, develops the downtown/city center, works with property owners to promote economic development and partners with community groups.

Need to pay your water bill or get water hooked up to a residence or commercial building?

The Finance Department, overseen by Chris Phillips, Assistant City Manager of Administration, is there to help. The Department also issues business registrations, privilege licenses for those selling beer and wine, and peddler licenses as well as sending out the water and sanitation bills.

Fire Department

The Reidsville Fire Department operates three fire stations within the City. The headquarters, Fire Station #1, is located at 402 South Scales Street while Fire Station #2 is at 1826 Barnes Street (336-634-3056)  and Fire Station #3 is at 2800 Reid School Road (336-634-3200).

​

The stations and 27 fire personnel are under the supervision of Fire Chief Joshua Farmer. Working with the Fire Chief are the Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal, Administrative Captain, one daytime training position, and 24 shift personnel.  Shift personnel work on a schedule of 24 hours on duty and 48 hours off.  The three shifts (A, B, and C) include eight personnel per shift.  We have 3 stations with 2 personnel at each station and a Battalion Chief assigned to each shift at Station One.

The Human Resources Department is responsible for the recruitment and selection of City employees, position classification and compensation, employee recognition, personnel policy management, benefits administration, worker’s compensation, drug free workplace program, and the employee wellness program. The department is led by HR Director Leigh Anne Bassinger.

The Department of Information Technology provides leadership in the development of powerful, cost-effective technical services and business solutions for City employees and is led by IT Director Shirrell Williams.

The mission of the Information Technology Department is to provide the City with timely and cost-effective access to information technology encompassing data and telecommunications that aligns with the City's mission and goals. We are committed to providing assistance and guidance in the effective use of technology. The Information Technology staff will continuously strive to optimize city operations by maximizing the utilization of available resources and technologies.

Information Technology Philosophy

The staff of the Information Technology Department  is dedicated to staying informed about current technologies and trends.  We provide leadership in leveraging these technologies to establish, maintain, and enhance the City of Reidsville.  The Information Technology Department is responsible for the administration and allocation of technological support and solutions to our staff and elected officials, ultimately aiming to enhance the overall service provided to the citizens and visitors of our city.

The Reidsville Police Department provides a variety of services and programs to the local residential and business community, and to others who visit the city.

The Reidsville Public Works Department oversees a variety of services provided by the City -- from water and sewer issues to snow removal and trash pickup. The City's Public Works Director Joshua Beck supervises and coordinates the department's five operational divisions: Garage, Public Services, Solid Waste Management, Wastewater and Water Treatment Plant.
